Patient information was unavailable from the site.A medtronic representative inspected the navigation system onsite and replaced the cable, however the issue did not resolve.The monitor was then replaced and the issue was resolved.A full system check-out was completed following part replacement and all tests passed.Full system functionality was confirmed and the system was returned to service.No parts have been returned to the manufacturer for evaluation.
 
Event Description
A medtronic representative reported that while in a spinal fusion procedure the surgeon monitor on the navigation system was not powering and was flickering when the external surgeon monitor cable was wiggled.The site sent the video signal out to the operating room (or) monitors.There was no reported delay to the procedure and no impact on the patient outcome.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
The monitor for the navigation system was returned to the manufacturer for evaluation.Testing found that the monitor would display for a few second and then go blank.The failure occurred when connected to a known operational system.The hardware investigation found that the reported event was related to a hardware issue.This issue was documented in a medtronic navigation hardware anomaly tracking database.
