Event Description
|
The patient's attorney alleged a deficiency against the device resulting in an unspecified adverse outcome.Product was used for therapeutic treatment.Preoperative and postoperative diagnosis was open abdomen status post return to surgery for missed enterotomy, status post ventral hernia repair.The procedure performed was exploration of the abdomen, colonic decompression, abdominal washout, closure of ventral hernia with mesh.On (b)(6) 2012 - the patient underwent a surgical revision for abdominal washout, wound vac placement.The pre-op and post-op diagnosis was status post ventral hernia repair, abdominal wall infection.The patient experienced multiple surgical revisions, washout, vac placed, skin graft, pain, adhesions, fistula, infections, and recurrence.Past surgical history: ventral hernia repair.

The patient¿s attorney alleged a deficiency against the device.The product was used for therapeutic treatment of ventral hernia.It was reported that after implant, the patient experienced recurrence, abdominal wall infection, pain, adhesions, fistula, infections, chronic abdominal wound with skin graft, open wound.Post-operative patient treatment included revision surgery, excision of mesh, abdominal wound washout, washout, wound vac placement, and skin graft.
