Event Description
|
Information was received from a healthcare professional (hcp) regarding a patient who was receiving an unknown concentration of morphine at minimum rate via an implantable infusion pump for failed back surgery syndrome and spinal pain.It was reported that an alarm was heard and confirmed by telemetry. It was reported that a safe state occurred and the pump was in minimum rate. The hcp reported that they would like to have the pump permanently turned off so the patient didn't have to hear alarms and they will schedule a pump replacement. The hcp reported that they would cover the patient with oral meds in the meantime. The pump off password was provided. It was reported that the patient was really sick it was reported that the pump was successfully put into off state. No further complications were anticipated/reported.
