Medtronic received information regarding a navigation device being used for a cranial resection procedure.
It was reported that the pentero microscope was used and while navigation was available, the menu panel of the model outline indication was not displayed.
During initial troubleshooting, after the procedure completed but while the micro and the navigation device were working, inspection was performed.
A communication cable was found to be unplugged and was re-plugged.
The menu panel of the model from indication displayed but a bracket was not recognized.
The microscope was rebooted without resolution.
After calibration software was started, it was noted that the bracket was recognized in the display calibration panel.
The device was rebooted again and no more issues occurred.
The procedure was completed with the use of navigation.
There was no delay to surgery and no known impact on patient outcome.
