According to Section 409(h)(1)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, food contact substance notifications (FCNs) are effective only for the listed manufacturer and its customers. Other manufacturers must submit their own FCN for the same food contact substance and intended use.

Manufacturer/Supplier: The Valspar Corporation
Intended Use: For use as a monomer in the production of epoxy coating resins as described in 21 CFR 175.300(b)(3)(viii). The resin may be used in the production of coatings for can-ends only and will be used in contact with aqueous, acidic, and alcoholic foods and beverages containing up to 15 percent alcohol by volume. The FCS may be used in combination with other substances authorized for this intended use in epoxy can coatings under FDA's food additive regulations and effective Food-Contact Substance Notifications.
Limitations/Specifications*: Coatings containing the FCS at no more than 16.6 weight-percent may contact all food types except fatty foods and infant formula under Conditions of Use D through G.
