Title:
Anesthetic effect of eugenol and menthol on handling stress in Macrobrachium rosenbergii.
Authors:
Saydmohammed M, Pal AK
Drug:
Menthol
Fish species:
Shrimp, giant freshwater prawn
Date:
2009
Sample:
muscle
Ave Weight (gm):
32
Ave Water temp (°C):
30
Water:
Freshwater
Dosage:
0.1 mL/L 30 min
Route:
BATH
Comments:
Eugenol showed similar anesthetic property to that of a mixture of eugenol and menthol, but menthol used alone was ineffective. Induction time=208.2 min. Recovery time=1.5 min. Oxygen consumption=5.2 mg O2 kg/h. Results indicate that eugenol and menthol residues accumulate in the tissues, however a 24 hour withdrawl period clears the residues from the tissue.
