Event Description
Information was received from a consumer regarding a patient who was receiving dilaudid at an unknown concentration and dose via implantable pump.It was reported that the patient's pump ran out of medication on (b)(6) 2020 because when it was due to be filled their car broke down and she missed her appointment.Because of the missed appointment the clinic charged her and would not see her until it was paid and she had to wait until she had the money to pay the clinic. The pump was dry from (b)(6) 2020 to yesterday (b)(6) 2020.She said she was hurting so bad and was in so much pain and terribly sick. The patient got their pump filled yesterday and when she tried to use the personal therapy manager (ptm) yesterday the refill date showed (b)(6) 2020 and there is a bell on the screen. When she tried to use the ptm the ptm would power on and then it would turn off and the light on the ptm would not come on.They removed the batteries and checked the battery compartment for erosion. They replaced the panasonic batteries and was able to connect to the pump showing a refill date of (b)(6) 2020 and patient services reviewed to put the back of the ptm over the pump on the skin and press and release the bolus button. The ptm showed the bolus delivered and now the refill date is updated reading (b)(6) 2020.

Event Description
