It was reported to boston scientific corporation that a captivator ii-10mm round stiff snare was used in the duodenum during an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ercp) procedure performed on (b)(6) 2020.According to the complainant, during the procedure and inside the patient, the snare was passed through the olympus ercp scope to retrieve a 7fr plastic stent.Upon closure around the stent, the snare loop was broken and it was completely separated in the patient below the sheath.The snare loop and the stent were successfully removed from the patient.Reportedly, no visible issue was noted with the handle and no other issues were noted with the device.The procedure was completed with another captivator snare.There were no patient complications reported as a result of this event.The patient condition following the procedure was reported to be stable.
