Event Description
Medtronic received information regarding a navigation system being used during a spinal procedure to address stenosis.It was reported that a cannula broke and fragmented into right l4.Additional surgery was performed to remove the posterior portion of the cannula.There was no patient harm and the procedure delay was unknown.

Event Description
Additional information was provided stating that the procedure was delayed by 20-30 minutes.The likely cause of the cannula breakage was the sclerotic nature of the patient's bone along with the surgeon trying to lateralize the trajectory after it was placed in the vertebra.
