It was reported that during a routine device change, pre-operative the right ventricular (rv) lead impedance was within normal limits and after removing the rv lead from the device and connecting it to the new pacemaker, the rv impedance was noted to be high and undefined bipolar. The lead was disconnected and reinserted fully into the header same results.A pacing system analyzer (psa) cable and psa was then used to measure the rv lead, the impedance bipolar was high and undefined. The pin was noted to have a little excess "play" in a forward and backward motion but no play in side to side motion. The lead was capped and replaced. No patient complications have been reported as a result of this event.
