It was reported that after the completion of a transcarotid artery revascularization (tcar) procedure, the patient experienced a stroke while in recovery. The stent had occluded which prompted the physician to perform a mechanical thrombectomy of the middle cerebral artery (mca) and balloon the stent.Silk road medical was informed that the ct scan performed post-operatively demonstrated a "stent crush." the patient was later discharged to a rehab facility with residual deficits from her stroke, which included right sided motor and expressive aphasia. At this time there was no post stent imaging made available to silk road medical, no p2y12 inhibitor test/study was performed on the patient, and no further information has been made available by the hospital.
