The initial reporter stated there was an issue with the display of a coaguchek xs meter.The reporter stated that batteries were inserted correctly into the meter.The battery contacts were cleaned with a rubber band.There was no sign of moisture, debris, or corrosion.The batteries were re-inserted, but the meter did not power on.After a few minutes, the meter powered on and beeped three times.The reporter stated there was a small "11" flashing on the display of the meter.When performing a display check of the meter, only the left and right sides of the lower circle of all "888" in the results field of the display were observed.

The meter was returned for investigation.The device started slowly and the beeper sounds delayed.Only individual segments flashed on the display.Contamination from leaked batteries and penetrating liquids were observed in the battery compartment, on the circuit board, and on the conductive rubber contacts.The contamination caused the complained issue and would be caused by a mishandling of the device.Medwatch fields d9 and h3 have been updated.
