It was reported that patient had ultrasound done to determine if there was a mass on the patient's thyroid.In the process, scar tissue on the leads from the vns was discovered.The scar tissue on the vagus nerve was found to be restricting blood flow through the jugular to 30% normal blood flow.The patient was referred to surgeon to have system removed but no consult or surgery date have been scheduled.No surgical intervention has occurred to date.No additional or relevant information has been received to date.

It was further reported that physician and vascular surgery saw patient.No further action is planned.No additional or relevant information has been received to date.
 
Event Description
Further information was received from the physician's office reporting that there was no wound.The excessive scarring was caused from the initial implant.They did not do surgery.No further updates are available from the physician.Further information was received indicating that patient had previously seen a specialist for the ongoing scarring issues and that the specialist noted that the risk was too high to remove the device so it was decided to not pursue removal.Patient's family added that they would be getting a 2nd opinion.No other relevant information has been received to date.

The patient had the device explanted due to needing an mri.The explanted device has not been received to date.No other relevant information has been received to date.
