According to the reporter, during a laparoscopic hysterectomy, while closing the cuff of the vagina, the needle broke off and they were not able to find it.The broken piece of needle fall into the cavity of patient.They had to leave the broken piece of needle in the patient.

According to the reporter, during a laparoscopic hysterectomy, while closing the cuff of the vagina, the needle broke off and they were not able to find it.The broken piece of needle fall into the cavity of patient and was not able to retrieved.They had to leave the broken piece of needle in the patient.X-ray was performed to locate the broken needle, however after several attempts the final x-ray did not show the needle, however the needle was never found in any tissue excision.It was noted that estimated "half" of the original length of the needle was still on the handle.The surgical time extended by more than 30 minutes.
