Event Description
|
A patients great saphenous vein (gsv) was treated using a venaseal closure system. the procedure was performed by the ifu as usual.The catheter tip is injected 5cm before sfj and pressure is applied appropriately.Two/three weeks later, the patient came to the hospital complaining of redness and pain around the treated area (middle of knee).The patient was prescribed antihistamines, which did not improve symptoms a after a week of observation, and blood tests showed high crp and white blood cell counts.Approximately 4 weeks post procedure, suspecting infection, the physician administered intravenous antibiotics for two days.Crp and white blood cell counts dropped and the patient was diagnosed with phlebitis (hypersensitivity reaction) rather than a suspected infection, and prednisone (steroid) was prescribed.The patient is reported to have been cured by medical treatment approximately 5 weeks post initial procedure.
