Event Description
|
According to the reporter, during laparoscopic appendectomy, the device rfid tag fell out of the sponge.When the sponge was pulled out of the trocar the surgeon felt it pop out of the sponge.Upon review there was a hole in the sponge where the tag is housed.Then the room began to scan to locate the missing tag.Looking to see if this was an isolated incident or have you heard any other occurrences.The rf tag was found near the patient head, out of the cavity of the body.There was no patient injury.
