Event Description

It was reported that information was received from a patient regarding an implantable neurostimulator for essential tremor and parkinsons. The reason for call was patient reported they were sent a new recharger, antenna and desktop charger 4 -5 days ago (see rtg0489427 and rtg0489447) and they plugged it in and it is not making it go and they are "starting to feel the effects", 2 days ago they noticed the felt like therapy may be off it and has been 4 days now since they were able to recharge.Pt said they recharge for 15 minutes to a half hour, every day to 100 percent.Worked with patient to use the equipment and patient reported seeing the reposition antenna screen.Patient repositioned the antenna several times but was not able to get the recharging screen.Asked pt to use their programmer to check their ins status and pt looked but stated they do not have a programmer they may have never had one.Reviewed information about discharged ins and without a programmer to check status and potentially turn therapy back on, they will likely need to see their doctor to start recharging again and turn therapy back on.Pt said they go to the va and does not remember their doctor's name. The issue was not resolved through troubleshooting.Offered and sent email to the reps in the area to get in touch with patient about getting their therapy turned back on and potentially help with a programmer or wireless recharger transition.Offered to replace the 37751 recharger through repairs but if the replacement does not show they are charging they will need to see their doctor or doctor/rep and they will need to see the doctor/ rep to turn therapy back on.Patient also reported 4 years ago they were switched to a rechargeable battery.
