It was reported that this cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (crt-d) exhibited code 1005, indicative of shocking into an open lead condition. The patient was reported to have received multiple inappropriate shocks, with high out of range shock impedance measurements of greater than 125 ohms.Boston scientific technical services confirmed there were repeat maximum energy positive polarity shocks followed by reverse polarity shocks with out-of-range shock impedances. This phenomenon appears related to lead condition and the device hardware appears to be functioning normally otherwise. The crt-d remains in service and there were no adverse patient effects reported.
