Event Description
|
It was reported that on february 4, 2024, the surgeon was back slapping the nail with the back slapping extension on a tibial nailing-advanced (tna) during a suprapatellar insertion. The aiming arm (jig) was attached during this because the surgeon want to use the jig to measure the nail¿s rotation as he was in driving the nail back. The pa noticed that there were black pieces around the surgical site and that¿s when we realized that the hooks on the jig that wrap around the pegs to secure it to the insertion handle had broken off.Jig was still able to be used to insert screws just not stable due to hooks being broken.Surgery was completed successfully without any surgical delay.Fragments were removed easily without additional intervention.Patient outcome was unknown. This report is for one (1) aiming arm/ radiolucent this is report 1 of 1 for complaint (b)(4).
