Event Description
It was reported that in the past 30 days, a total of 3 temperature sensing foley catheters had not been draining urine from the bladder.Patient was not outputting urine; a bladder scan was performed and approximately 800 cc's of urine was found to be in the patient's bladder.A new temperature sensing foley was placed and urine then drained freely from the bladder.One was a patient receiving ecmo therapy and 3 were receiving ttm therapy.Per sample received on 01mar2024, it was reported that the customer returned (b)(6) for sample evaluation.Per additional information received via sample form on 01mar2024, it was reported that the patient called of bladder distension and pain.Patient had decreased urine output overnight.Bladder scan done by day shift registered nurse.There was 900 ml in bladder.Catheter was removed and patient voided in bed.New foley non temperature sensing catheter placed, there was 900 ml of urine output immediately following insertion.
