Event Description
According to the reporter, at the beginning of the drill hole for chronic subdural hematoma under local anesthesia, after a couple of activations, they saw a flame from under the surgical drape which set the hair on fire resulting in a 2nd degree burn to the face, ears, and neck, the second degree burn site on the neck measured approximately 20cmx5cm, the first degree burn site on chin measured approximately 5cmx5cm.The flame was about 20cm high on the hair and was extinguished with water.The generator was replaced to complete the procedure and the burn was treated with medication, future plastic surgery to repair the damage should be evaluated.Patient hospitalization was extended for 10 days.
