Event Description
An adhesive issue was reported with the abbott diabetes care (adc) sensor.The sensor prematurely detached and the customer was unable to obtain readings.As a result, the customer was not aware that their blood sugar dropped to "58" (obtained from unspecified) and experienced a loss of consciousness and incoherence.The customer was unable to treat themselves, requiring non-healthcare professional (hcp) administration of orange juice, peanut butter, and candy.No further treatment was reported.There was no report of death or permanent impairment associated with this event.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
Sensor (b)(6) has been returned and investigated.No physical damage was observed on the sensor patch.No issues were observed with the adhesive.Issue is not confirmed.An extended investigation has also been performed for the reported complaint.Dhrs (device history review) for the freestyle libre sensor and freestyle libre sensor kit were reviewed and the dhrs showed the freestyle libre sensor and freestyle libre sensor kit passed all tests prior to release.All pertinent information available to abbott diabetes care has been submitted.
