It was reported that the home patient (hp) dropped the patient line of their automated peritoneal dialysis (apd) set with cassette, at the point of ¿connect yourself¿ on the homechoice (hc) device. The caregiver (cg) explained that the hp was in the process of connecting for therapy when they dropped the line on the floor with the cap off the line. The cg reported that the patient did connect themselves to the setup after that, but did not open the transfer set.The hp ended up disconnecting after that to ask for assistance from the technical service representative (tsr). The tsr advised the cg to have the hp start over with all new supplies. There was no patient injury or medical intervention indicated at the time of the report. No additional information is available.
