It was reported that an asymptomatic patient presented for a device change-out due to normal eri.Device could not be interrogated because of an error message.Programming was done and this allowed the device to be interrogated.Device remains implanted.

Clarification of event: the device did not remain implanted as previously reported, it was explanted during the device change out.

The reported inability to communicate was confirmed in the laboratory and was due to a firmware anomaly involving stored electrograms.After clearing the device electrograms, the device was able to be communicated with normally.The cause of the reported inability to communicate was a firmware anomaly.
