Event Description
It was reported that during set-up of the device for a cardiopulmonary bypass procedure, the air sensor failed.Once the perfusion system was turned on, it alarmed.The device was not changed out, as the customer disabled this sensor and used the remaining sensors on the circuit.The surgical procedure was completed successfully.There was no delay, no blood loss, nor adverse consequences to the patient.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
The air sensor was linked to the cardioplegia (cpg) pump.The sensor was placed after the cpg heat exchanger.The field service representative (fsr) confirmed the complaint by checking it on another roller pump and verified the reported issue.
