Event Description
It was reported that during set-up of the device for a cardiopulmonary bypass procedure, the cord pulls out without releasing the collet on the sternal saw.As a result, an alternate device was employed.The surgical procedure was completed successfully.There was no delay, no blood loss, nor adverse consequences to the patient.

The reported complaint could not be confirmed.No product deficiency was found during inspection by the investigator.A service department flex cable was able to be locked into the motor and would not pull out until released by pulling back the collet.The old style saw motor has no available replacement parts and therefore, the service process cannot be completed.No additional action will be taken at this time.
