It was reported that in 2011, the patient was suffering from pain in her neck, shoulders, and lower back.In (b)(6) 2011, the patient underwent l4-s1 spinal fusion.The patient was implanted with rhbmp-2/acs.Following the surgery, the patient continued her follow-up care with the surgeon.She required constant heavy pain medication in order to keep her pain away.In addition, the patient developed a staph infection after the surgery that took over eight months to heal.Upon information and belief, the patient was driven into a debilitating state by the surgery and follow-up treatment.Ultimately, this debilitating state led directly to the patient's death on (b)(6) 2012.
