A ge healthcare service representative performed a checkout of the equipment and confirmed the reported complaint.The batteries were replaced, and the unit was returned to service.Based on the date code of the batteries, the charge date was january 2007.Per the aisys technical reference manual, batteries are to be replaced every 4 years, however, batteries that pass the capacity test can be considered viable for battery backup of the system for up to 6 years at the discretion of the hospital.The batteries in this case were 8 years old and past the recommended or extended replacement period.
