Boston scientific received information that the patient implanted with this cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (crt-d) system passed away the morning after the implant procedure. The physician initially questioned tamponade; however the pericardial tap only drew off a limited amount of fluid, therefore the physician did not believe the procedure (i.E., lead placement, etc) caused the patient to decompensate, rather the patient had poor heart function. The field representative noted that the patient was in very poor health and placed on comfort care prior to the procedure. The field representative was unable to provide any further information. The products were not returned to boston scientific. Our records indicate they were buried with the patient.
