Event Description
|
It was reported that during set-up of the device for a cardiopulmonary bypass procedure, the latch in the air bubble detector was broken.As a result, an alternate device was employed.The surgical procedure was completed successfully.There was no delay, no blood loss, nor adverse consequences to the patient.

The user facility biomedical technician (bmet) mentioned that they are going to order new latches for their air bubble detector (abd) to resolve the issue.

The reported complaint was confirmed via the user facility's biomedical technician (bmet) observation, as broken latch is a readily identifiable condition.Per the bmet, the issue was resolved by replacing latch/lock.No parts were returned to the manufacturer for evaluation.If additional information becomes available on this complaint that would alter the facts and/or conclusion, a supplemental report will be filed accordingly.
