A journal article was reviewed that contained information regarding a cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (crt-d).It was reported that the patient experienced ventricular tachycardia (vt). When a test pace would occur, it was interrupted by ventricular sensing and pacing due to prolonged atrioventricular intervals. The capture threshold test was aborted due to sustained monomorphic vt.It was initially thought that the capture management test was causing vt since it postponed therapy for a relatively long time, resulting in the vt, however, it was determined that capture management was functioning as programmed. The device remains inuse. No further patient complications have been reported as a result of this event.
