It was reported to boston scientific corporation that a stonetome was used in the ampulla during an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ercp) procedure performed on (b)(6) 2019.According to the complainant, during the procedure, the cutting wire broke off from one connection of the stonetome.Reportedly, no part of the device was detached inside the patient.The procedure was completed with this device, using the same generator and active cord, since sufficient sphincterotomy had been performed prior to the wire breaking.There were no patient complications reported as a result of this event.The patient's condition at the conclusion of the procedure was reported to be fine.
