It was reported that there were frequent air-in-line alarms during a spine surgery despite changing out tubing multiple times. It was noted that "the tubing, especially the portion that goes in pump almost acts like it has lipophilic coating on it and collects/creates bubbles despite user¿s best efforts.Especially for medicines like propofol, it¿s even worse.Despite keeping it in anesthesia mode and highest amount of air detection, the pump keeps alarming for air in line ( efforts to use syringe to pull air out to flushing it doesn¿t even work)." it was reported that the clinician had to attend to the air-in-line alarms "every two minutes" during the surgical case.It was observed that "if you prime very slowly then it does work without any bubbles in that tubing area." although requested, no patient information was provided.
