Information was received from a healthcare provider (hcp) regarding a patient who was receiving 25 mg/ml of morphine at 2.998 mg/day an implantable pump.On (b)(6) 2020, it was reported that the patient's pump had been alarming for a couple of years. The patient's pump was last filled in 2018 by a different hcp. That hcp's office attempted to call the patient to have them come in for a refill, but the patient refused to come in.The patient's current hcp determined that the pump had likely gone empty. The patient wanted the entire system explanted, but the hcp did not want to take any chances if the pump was damaged and wanted to shut down the pump. However, the hcp wasn't with the patient at the time of the report and shutting down the pump would take place the next time the patient came into the clinic.
