Event Description
|
Information was received from a healthcare provider regarding a patient who was receiving bupivacaine (concentration: 2 mg/ml, dose rate: 0.9502 mg/day) and dilaudid (concentration: 5mg/ml, dose rate: 2.3755 mg/day) via an implantable pump for non-malignant pain.It was reported that the patient did not have a refill of their pump and the reservoir went empty on (b)(6) 2020.At this time the patient ended up in the emergency room with acute severe withdrawal and was admitted to the hospital.During this time the pump was not refilled and it was decided that he was going to have the pump explanted, but the patient did not want to go back to managing physician at that time.It was further reported that the patient since had come to their clinic and now they want to program the pump to off state. The healthcare provider was using a clinician programmer tablet and the password was given.
