Event Description
Physician intended to use a protege rx self-expanding stent with a spider fx embolic protection device during treatment of the patient¿s common carotid artery.The vessel is described as being severely tortuous.There was no damage noted to the product(s) packaging prior to use nor any issues noted when removing the devices from the packaging.Ifu was followed and the devices were prepped without issue.Pre-dilation was performed using a 5mm pre-dilation device.The devices were not passed through a previously deployed stent.Resistance is reported during advancement.It is reported the devices were unable to cross the lesion due to the vessel being extremely tortuous.The stent was partially deployed but both devices were safely removed from the patient.The procedure was completed using a non-medtronic stent.No patient injury reported.
