It was reported that patients are reporting skin rashes or blistering where the chloraprep is applied.Verbatim: my periop team is reporting that some patients are reporting skin rashes or blistering where the chloraprep is applied, but only with the teal color. The belief is it is a reaction to the dye but these patients had not identified as having allergies to dyes previously. It is not occurring while the patient is with us, but usually presents later that evening or the next day.The gyn surgeons are asking the team to try and cleanse as much off the patient as possible to prevent this possibility from occurring, but not all of it is able to be removed. This also negates the value of using chloraprep with a surgical patient.I do not have specific patient information, although i may be able to get that after doing some intense questioning.I also do not have packaging with lot numbers as the patients are reporting this to the physician¿s office post operatively. It does not appear to be an issue when the orange tint is used.
