It was reported that during an open hepatectomy, the jaws became not to open during use.Another device was used to complete the case.There were no adverse consequences to the patient.No further information is available.

(b)(4).Batch # unk.Additional information was requested, and the following was obtained: please confirm: was device stuck on tissue when it would not open? if yes, was there any damage to the tissue? what was done to repair any damage to the tissue? was device ever able to be opened? the device was used on the blood vessel around the liver.Another device was used to clip the target tissue and the device in question was removed from the patient.No bleeding or no damage of the target tissue was observed due to the jaws not opened.The patient¿s condition is stable.Investigation summary: according to the information received, , the jaws became not to open during use.Mcm30 an analysis of the product could not be performed since a physical sample was not received for evaluation.An evaluation of the manufacturing documentation could not be completed as the lot number was not provided.As part of ethicon's quality process, all devices are manufactured, inspected, and distributed to approved specifications.Additional complaint information monitoring for potential safety signals will be conducted through complaint trending as part of post market surveillance.If the product or additional information is received at a later date, the investigation will be updated as applicable.
