Event Description
|
A peritoneal dialysis (pd) patient experienced a separation between the female connector and the main body of a minicap transfer set while "disconnecting".The separation was further specified as ¿the entire dark blue piece unscrews from the light blue piece when patient disconnects from tubing¿.Subsequently the patient developed peritonitis. The cause of the separation was not reported, and no leak was noted. It was not reported if the patient was hospitalized for the event. The patient was treated with unspecified antibiotics for the event. The nurse noted after the first transfer set change, the device was ¿defective¿, so a second transfer set change was performed. At the time of this report, the patient outcome and action with pd therapy was not reported. No additional information is available.
