Event Description
It was reported to philips the charger board blew up and there was a strong odor from the device.There was no patient involvement or harm.This event was reported to have occurred outside of clinical use.The customer spoke with a philips remote service engineer (rse).The customer stated the device was plugged into a power source, but was not in use.The device emitted a strong odor and there were discolored components on the pm pcba near the power harness assembly.Onsite repair was requested.Further information has been requested.If additional information becomes available at a later date, a supplemental report will be submitted.
 
Manufacturer Narrative
Following the evaluation of the device, the field service engineer (fse) verified there was burn damage on the power management printed circuit board assembly (pm pcba).The components with burn marks were diode d37 and capacitor c258.The fse replaced the pm pcba to resolve the problem.The unit was then functionally tested and successfully passed specified tests.No other abnormality was observed.
