Event Description
|
Information was received from a friend/family member regarding a patient who was implanted with an implantable neurostimulator (ins) for gastrointestinal/pelvic floor therapy.It was reported that the doctor did the patient's last surgical procedure in 20 minutes and did not put the stimulator into a pocket and now the ins has "been turning" it moves around under their skin.Patient services asked the date they noticed the stimulator moves around and caller did not know.The caller said that the pt's current ins battery is dead and confirmed it had reached normal battery depletion. patient services sent physician listings and redirected to their doctor.

Additional information was received from the friend/family member regarding a patient.The caller called back and reports that they are looking for a new hcp.The caller reports the same info, that the implanter didn't implant it properly because they never put the device in a pocket.Asked caller how they knew that, and the caller reports because the doctor never told them that he did it.The caller also reported that the battery was eos because the patient is throwing up and taking meds.The caller reported that the patient has other medical issues, including lupus, 3 discs replaced and is in chronic pain.

Additional information was received from the patient.They stated at one point they were "keeping up and getting reviews and it's been a minute but stuff is happening" and the patient needed to see a doctor because they need to "record" what's going on" and that their gastric stimulator was on a "time schedule" and their "body is rejecting it." the patient stated this has been happening this year and last year as well.The patient stated they wouldn't remember this conversation because they were medicated.Patient services emailed physician listings to the email address provided.
