Event Description

It was reported that the patient believes the implantable neurostimulator (ins) had triggered their epilepsy. In (b)(6) 2019 the patient had their first grand mal seizure.Since then they have had multiple seizures and given flexibility to turn their therapy on or off.Occasionally they would experience palpitations, hot flashes, nausea and auras. The patient was not pregnant.Later in 2020 they were diagnosed with epilepsy and on (b)(6) 2021 they were back to work and ok.While driving once they had a focal seizure and it happened again after the most recent battery change. After the last seizure they needed to be monitored for 4 days and the physician had them turn off the device. They had epilepticus from 2pm to 9pm on and off before being discharged that day.Their therapy was now off per the doctor's indication and they were stable. There was no ins replacement since (b)(6) 2022 and no equipment replacement either.Their implant is in but not being used. The issue was said to be resolved.
