Event Description
It was discovered prior to an initial surgery that the battery box is cracked and black powder is scattered in the tray.Another device was used for the procedure.No adverse events were reported as a result of this malfunction.Attempts have been made and no further information has been provided.

Event Description
It was further reported that this was a new device.The black debris was from the battery.There was no char or burn on the device.Attempts have been made and no further information has been provided.

His follow-up report is being submitted to relay additional information.The event is confirmed.Visual inspection of the product showed the battery pack was busted open and there were pieces of batteries as well as gray/black debris from the battery expulsion throughout the sealed tyvek tray.The device history record was reviewed and no discrepancies relevant to the reported event were found.A definitive root cause cannot be determined.If any further information is found which would change or alter any conclusions or information, a supplemental report will be filed accordingly.Zimmer biomet will continue to monitor for trends.
