This report is based on information provided by philips remote service engineer (rse) and has been investigated by the philips complaint handling team.Philips received a complaint on the heartstart mrx defibrillator indicating that device displays an error message: "disconnected paddles".There was reportedly no patient involvement.The rse determined the message being displayed is a normal message when the paddles are not on the patient.The device detects that the impedance does not match that of a patient and displays this technical message.When the customer places paddles on the patient, the error message disappears.Therefore, the rse confirmed the device was functional and operating correctly.Based on the information available, we were able to confirm the device was operating per specifications.The reported problem was not confirmed; however, was confirmed to not be a fault of the device.The device was confirmed to be operating per specifications and no failure was identified.The message being displayed was confirmed to be a normal message to be displayed when paddles are not on the patient.The investigation concludes that no further action is required at this time.If additional information is received the complaint file will be reopened.
