Event Description
|
It was reported that the day after an elective mitral valve surgery while connected to the external pulse generator (epg) the patient experienced decreased heart rate, an increase in lactate and a decrease in central venous oxygen saturation with worsening perfusion.It was observed that there was no capture from the epg.The epg was changed for a different model epg and capture was obtained and the patient's condition recovered.It was noted that the issue may have been due to cracks in the cable used with the epg however there was no visible damage noted.No further patient complications have been reported as a result of this event.
