Event Description
It was reported that a lead integrity alert (lia) triggered due to high rate non-sustained episodes and elevated sensing integrity counter (sic). It was noted that the patient was welding at the time. The implantable cardioverter defibrillator (icd) was suspected of sensing electromagnetic interference (emi) from the welding. It was stated that the patient has a history of welding that triggers lia alerts, of which the first occurred in (b)(6) 2017 where the patient received an inappropriate shock due to the oversensing during welding.Additionally, a review of the data/episodes shows fine chatter during periods of oversensing consistent with patient emi exposure. It was also reported that at the time of an in office evaluation with the patient, oversensing was observed on the right ventricular (rv) lead during impedance testing; there had been no non-physiological oversensing up until then. the icd and rv lead remain in use.No further patient complications have been reported as a result of this event.
