Event Description
It was reported that approximately one month post-operatively to a cryo ablation procedure, the patient presented to the emergency room with feelings of a racing heart rate, shortness of breath, and chest pain that was believed to be muscle pain. The patient reported having two syncopal events the day prior. An electrocardiogram (ecg) was later performed and the result showed atrial flutter with two-to-one atrioventricular conduction. The patient was later cardioverted and then hospitalized overnight. Two weeks later, there was a change in flutter cycle length resulting in hypotension and hemodynamic compromise requiring pharmacological cardioversion to sinus rhythm.Subsequent ecg tests showed that the patient was in sinus rhythm.Due to the early recurrence of the arrhythmia, the patient presented for elective tikosyn loading. The patient was subsequently hospitalized for three days. no further patient complications have been reported as a result of this event.
