According to the reporter, preoperatively, the software was updated to 29.5.3 but the handle would not turn on even though full charge was indicated on the charger.There was no patient involvement.Medtronic's initial evaluation of the incident device found that analysis of data saved to the handle showed evidence of a memory verification failure as well as several unexpected resets on charger.
