Event Description
According to the reporter, during a procedure, when the device was successfully fired across the rectum, it was attempted to retract the anvil, however, the surgeon met significant resistance on the handle of the stapler.The anvil could only pull back halfway which made it impossible to pull out.The anvil was mobile forward, but not backwards.When the sales representative came to the operating room, the device was successfully removed from the patient after troubleshooting the issue.There was no patient injury.
