Event Description
Philips received a complaint from customer biomed reporting the v60 ventilator indicated a battery capacity of zero at time of a full charge.The device was not in clinical use.There was no harm or other patient impact reported.The device did not meet specification for intended use and was removed from service.A philips remote service engineer (rse) evaluated the issue and advised the biomed engineer (bme) of battery operations.The rse inquired on the battery age and the bme reported the battery was older than 5 years of age.The rse advised the bme, per the philips respironics v60 ventilator user manual the battery should be replaced every five years.The manual provides a schedule of preventive maintenance to the customer including battery maintenance.The battery replacement is based on the date of manufacture recorded on the battery label.The battery age is also viewable in the diagnostic mode on the system information screen.The customer acknowledged and requested battery details for replacement order.The investigation concludes that no further action is required at this time.If additional information is received the complaint file will be reopened.
